Press release -

CPAC Systems' Wireless Charging Control Module, a standardized open interface for charging

This is in relation to the agreement by European bus manufacturers Irizar, Solaris, VDL and Volvo to ensure the inter-operability of electric buses with charging infrastructure provided by ABB, Heliox and Siemens. The objective is to ensure a standardized, open interface between electric buses and charging infrastructure to facilitate the introduction of electric bus systems in European cities.

Electrification of public bus transport is the most important development within cities today as a measure against congestion, noise and air pollution. Many of these cities are already implementing plans for electric bus systems well ahead of the European standards expected to come in place 2019 and international standards in 2020.

The commitment to have an open charging interface is a definite step towards a common European standard for electric bus systems. This is fore-mostly facilitated by sharing experiences and by having an open, transparent and voluntary approach to common, preferred interfaces for electric buses with so called opportunity charging (fast charging at the end stops using pantographs) and for overnight connector based charging. Having this approach opens up the market to different players working together towards the realization of sustainable public transport in cities around the world.

CPAC Systems, realizing early on the market need for an open standardized solution, is ready to offer its latest product, the Wireless Charging Control Module (WCCM) to customers involved in developing electric transport solutions. The WCCM is a control and communication node, designed and developed in-house, to ensure a standardized open interface between the electric vehicle and the charging infrastructure. We believe our product will enable and fast-track customers interested in rolling out electro-mobility solutions.
