Prague has been chosen to host the International Congress and Convention Association's (ICCA) annual conference in 2017, beating St Petersburg and Gdansk.
The ICCA Congress in 2017 is expected to attract around 1,500 delegates.
In the bid, Prague demonstrated the importance of congresses to the development of the city and the Czech Republic overall.
Lenka Zlebkova, managing director of Prague Convention Bureau, said: "After last year's failure we are excited about Prague's win, especially because we managed to create a strong team consisting of representatives of the private and public sectors in the course of last year. The support and personal participation of the Mayor of Prague also helped us a lot."
