VSD Logistics and DHL Solutions have signed warehousing and distribution contracts for Sweden

According to earlier announced strategic collaboration in Northern Europe VSD Logistics and DHL Solutions has signed a warehousing contract and a distribution contract for Sweden. The contract, which gets into effect on May 1 next year, implies an investment in warehousing facilities in Örebro, in the central part of Sweden. “The reason for selecting DHL as our collaborative logistics partner in Sweden is their geographical presence in Sweden, the Megastore concept in Örebro, the high synergetic retailer concept, and broad knowledge of the alcohol market in the Nordic region”, says Øystein Rønningen, Managing Director of VSD Logistics. It is important for VSD Logistics to be as close to the customers as possible. Örebro is therefore a favourable site for their warehouse solutions in Sweden and their specific requirement of security, track&trace visibility and thermo protections. DHL Solutions site in Örebro is part of the Mega concept which is based on bringing together goods of different product groups and co-ordinate deliveries to end customers, including wholesalers. The concept allows faster flow of goods and is also more cost-efficient. The flow of pallets amounts to slightly one million pallets annually. “Our Megastore concept is again confirmed by a big FMCG (Fast Moving Consumer Goods) retail player. To be able to exceed our service level, Örebro will be enlarged and facilitate 25.000 square metres dedicated only to VSD ”, says Allan Lavén, Managing Director of DHL Solutions in Nordic region.
