Alfa Laval - DSM19 Gold Sponsor

Interview with Sameer Kalra, President Alfa Laval Marine Division.

Alfa Laval supports DSM19 as Gold Sponsor. What contributed to make this decision?Alfa Laval would like to see the maritime industry thrive here in our home market and Donsö Shipping Meet is the only maritime event so naturally we want to support it.

What are your expectations for DSM19?
Our expectation is that our sales colleagues will have engaging conversations with our customers as usual, be inspired by the speakers and enjoy the company of peers in the industry.

What is your best memory from DSM2017?Aside from the truly fantastic gala dinner I valued meeting our customers and other colleagues from the industry.

What do you find are the opportunities and the biggest challenges in the Shipping Industry today? The drive towards sustainability in the form of reduced emissions from shipping create as much of an opportunity as they do a challenge and it is clear that ships built 10-15 years in the future will be very different from the ones built today. Digitalization and Connectivity to create a tremendous opportunity to improve the operational efficiency of the industry going forward in the short and medium term.

How would you describe DSM in one word?
Interaction

Sail boat or Motor Boat
A sail-boat with a “take-me” home battery motor. Sustainable recreation with a Plan B to get home without wind.

A meeting place for the maritime cluster. DSM2025, September 1-3, 2025.

Donsö Shipping Meet started in 2009 and take place every other year on the island of Donsö, in the southern part of the archipelago of Gothenburg, Sweden. Delegates from all over the world gather on the island eager to discuss shipping and shipping-related topics. A meeting place for the maritime cluster, Donsö Shipping Meet is a lively, friendly event that provides a range of opportunities for making new connections.

The place to be in 2023 was Donsö. Over the course of 3 days, 2,900 delegates from 40 countries gathered to discuss shipping and shipping related topics. 100 shipping companies and 270 exhibiting suppliers came to lend their perspectives, make new connections and forge new business opportunities. By the end of the day, on August 29, 2,100 seated guests enjoyed a three-course meal at the Banquet dinner, where Triple & Touch, Ntombie Shobede, the Star Choir and the Ocean Vocals from Donsö, performed. The Banquet dinner hosts more guests than the Nobel banquet dinner in the Stockholm City Hall!
