Drottningholms Slottsteater reopens for tours

Drottningholms Slottsteater is to reopen for guided tours on 1 July for groups of no more than six people. New for this season is a daily family tour. A tour of the theatre can be combined with a visit to the palace and a walk in the royal park, where there are several outdoor cafés offering takeaways for those without a picnic basket.

“We’re delighted to be able to reopen, even if it is for fewer people than normal. This is your chance to get an exclusive, more personal tour of our unique cultural heritage,” says managing director Sofi Lerström.

Drottningholms Slottsteater has previously announced that this summer’s productions have been postponed for a year due to coronavirus. The tours, which have also been cancelled, will now be resuming in groups of six, which are small enough for visitors to keep a sufficient physical distance from each other.

Starting 1 July, there will be five guided tours of the historical theatre a day. This summer, there will also be a special daily tour for families to meet a need for those on staycation. Our guides will also be offering more detailed thematic tours on such diverse topics as Queen Lovisa Ulrika (1751–1771) and Bergman’s Magic Flute. For those who would prefer to stay outside, there will be an outdoor presentation of 18th century entertainment in the royal park. The theatre shop will also be open daily from 10 am to 4 pm.

Drottningholms Slottsteater is part of the Drottningholm World Heritage Site, and the palace and the Chinese Pavilion will also be opening to visitors on 1 July. The grounds are large enough for everyone to remain safely distanced, and there are several cafés offering takeaway services.

In September–October, Drottningholms Slottsteater will be hosting the fashion exhibition The Queen of Prints – maxjenny!. The Visions and Utopias day-programme celebrating Queen Lovisa Ulrika 300th birthday will be held on 5 September.

Drottningholms Slottsteater operates in full compliance with the Public Health Agency’s recommendations, and plans for the season are therefore subject to change.

Därefter föll teaterbyggnaden i glömska.
