The Swedish King and Queen to attend Longines FEI European Championships Gothenburg 2017

Their Majesties The King and Queen of Sweden, will visit Gothenburg to attend the exciting Jumping finals at Ullevi Arena on the 27th of August.

The royal couple’s visit will be preceded by a visit by Her Royal Highness Princess Madeleine who will attend the opening ceremony on August 21. This means that the championships will start and end with royal attendance.

- It is a great honour that the royal couple wish to attend the championships. They are very dedicated to equestrianism and we are very pleased that they will be in Gothenburg for the exciting and conclusive Jumping finals. Of course, we hope to be able to present Swedish medallists, said Ulf Brömster, President of the Swedish Equestrian Federation.

The individual Jumping final will be held at Ullevi Arena, starting at 2:00 p.m. on the 27th of August.
25 riders who have made it through the qualifications will compete for the medals in two rounds.

- We look very much forward to arranging this world-class event and we are immensely proud to be able to welcome several members of the royal family during the week. I am sure that the royal couple will enjoy a spectacular Jumping final, said Lotta Nibell, CEO of GotEvent.

Longines FEI European Championships will take place in Gothenburg, August 21-27. The championships will include Jumping and Dressage at Ullevi Arena and Driving and Para-Equestrian Dressage at Heden Arena and in Slottsskogen City Park.

The warm-up for this year’s European Championships started already in 2016 when Sweden was partner country to the world’s largest equestrian show, CHIO Aachen in Germany. The Swedish Equestrian Federation coordinated the partnership effort and the FEI European Championships was presented to the rest of Europe during the fair, during the opening ceremony and during the competitions. Her Majesty The Queen inaugurated the event and acted as patron of the Swedish delegation.
