Unit number 5000 of ML STAR Line shipped to Uppsala Biobank

Uppsala Biobank receives ML STAR Line unit number 5000

We are happy to announce that unit number 5000 of the successful STAR Line platform has been shipped from Hamilton manufacturing site in Bonaduz, Switzerland. Unit no. 5000 is installed at Uppsala Biobank and will support one of the key processes including primary sample handling and DNA and RNA quantification.

Hamilton’s Microlab STAR Line liquid handling platform was put to life 13 years ago with a completely new technology for automated pipetting. Recognizing the disadvantages when using a pipetting robot with liquid filled system, the simplicity of using a similar pipetting technology like a hand-held pipette offered unrivalled flexibility and utmost process safety to our customers. The STAR Line was the first pipetting robot in the market offering this new technology which today has become the standard in automated liquid handling.

Technological innovations implemented on the STAR Line include independent and asymmetric
positioning of pipetting channels, precise tip attachment and unrivalled dual liquid level detection. These innovations provide a wide volume range and quality pipetting. Thus the STAR Line meets the strictest requirements regarding positional accuracy, precision and flexibility.

Continuous development and improvement in addition to the expertise of 13 years being the leader of this technology, enables Hamilton to deliver the most sophisticated and advanced STAR Line liquid handling platforms. The STAR Line’s success story results today in the delivery of number 5000 delivered STAR Line systems in laboratories across the world.

Anna Beskow, Director of Uppsala Biobank and biobank custodian:

We are very pleased with the decision to work with Hamilton Robotics for this key application and looking forward to a fruitful collaboration. It’s of course also very historic to the be the customer receiving the unit number 5000”
