Sara Rosengren has been awarded the Association of ICA Retailers’ Chair in Business Administration, Especially Retailing

A generous donation from the Association of ICA Retailers has enabled the establishment of a new professorship in retailing at the Stockholm School of Economics. Professor Sara Rosengren has been appointed as the first holder of this chair.

Sara Rosengren is a renowned researcher in marketing and retail. Her research focuses on how people react to different types of marketing activities, such as advertising campaigns, the introduction of e-commerce or changes in price.

Sara Rosengren was awarded her PhD in 2008 and was appointed professor at the Stockholm School of Economics in 2017. Since 2014, she has been Head of Research at the Stockholm School of Economics’ Center for Retailing. Sara Rosengren is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Stockholm School of Economics Institute for Research (SIR) and the European Advertising Academy. In 2016, she was ranked as one of Sweden’s “super talents” and visionaries by the weekly business magazine Veckans Affärer.

"I am honoured to to have been appointed this professorship” says Sara Rosengren. "The retail industry is experiencing rapid change and I look forward to continuing our work to bridge the gap between academic retail theory and business practice.”

“Thanks to the generous donation from the Association of ICA Retailers, we will be able to gather a greater amount of knowledge in the area of retail. Capital of this scale enables us to fund the professorship through the yield on that capital. Sweden is incredibly prominent in retail and we can now strengthen our education and research in this field for a long time to come “, says Lars Strannegård, President of the Stockholm School of Economics

Effective from June 1, Sara will also take over the role as the head of the Center for Retailing at the Stockholm School of Economics.
