Hydro66 Earns ISO 27001 Certification

Swedish colocation and wholesale data center operator Hydro66 today announces it has achieved ISO 27001 Certification, the international standard that describes best practices for an information security management system (ISMS). Compliance with this certification validates that Hydro66 has implemented comprehensive information security practices that protect its users, their information, and their hosted data in accordance with internationally-recognised standards.

Demand for the Hydro66 colocation data center has been exceptionally strong and 65% of the initial build (3.6MW) has been sold. Retail and wholesale colocation customers are attracted to the data center by sub-30 ms RTT to Frankfurt, Amsterdam and London and a 50% cost reduction compared to legacy colocation data centers. The data center uses the lowest cost power in the EU, and hydropower is the greenest possible source of energy. Hydro66 owns a 45MW site adjacent to a 120MW substation.

The ISO/IEC 27001 family of standards ensures the secure management of physical and environmental aspects of the business, communications and operations management as well as end-to-end risk management by assisting firms in establishing methodologies and meeting key objectives for implementing information security.

Hydro66 underwent in-depth testing and assessment by BSI Group, a third-party auditor, to validate compliance with this standard. Maintenance of the certification requires an annual review and a three-year re-certification, giving Hydro66 clients confidence that their data is continuously protected under these standards.

Even prior to becoming operational in late 2015, security has been top priority for Hydro66. Their robust framework includes end-to-end security that safeguards customers’ assets and data. Achieving this certification provides independent validation regarding the company's ability to safeguard all aspects of customer information security that they entrust to Hydro66.
