IBM Opens 10th Global IBM Cloud Garage in SOHO, Copenhagen; Fuelling Fintech, Blockchain, Internet of Things (IoT), and AI Innovation on IBM Cloud

Copenhagen, Denmark, 7 February 2018:

IBM today announced the opening of its newest IBM Cloud Garage in the SOHO start-up community in the Meatpacking District of Copenhagen. The Garage brings together clients, developers, start-ups and fintech companies from across the Nordic region to help them build and innovate with the latest technologies powered by IBM Cloud, such as, AI, IoT and blockchain.

The IBM Cloud Garage will be supported by up to 30 specialist consultants from the fields of design thinking, development, architecture and data science. As the latest in IBM’s global network of Cloud Garages, including European locations in Nice and London, the Copenhagen Garage expands IBM’s mission to make cloud development and services accessible to companies and developers around the world – from small start-ups to large enterprises

A key priority of the Garage’s team is to improve organisations agility and speed of their app design and development process – tapping into IBM Cloud to help accelerate the time needed to bring new innovations to market, as well as help grow their in-house technology expertise. The Garage´s design thinking process brings together product managers, developers and architects in an agile, cloud fuelled environment to sparkle new and competitive product ideas that can be built with emerging technologies.

Clients big and small, across industries such as industrial, retail, banking and travel have already started to benefit from the Garage’s Design Thinking workshops and IBM Cloud. “The Garage’s Design Thinking process gave us a new and completely different take on how to incorporate emerging technologies into our business. We formulated new and innovative business opportunities from a user perspective – using the unique methods of the workshop –challenged and improved them in ways we could not have imagined. For both the company and the people involved it was a transformative experience that has changed our thinking going forward,” says Luca Harrasser Burmeister,CEO at C&C Travel.

“Innovation is at the top of every client’s business agenda but companies can often find it difficult to develop the same innovation culture and agility which characterizes start-ups. This is where the Garage comes in. It allows clients to speedily learn how to build new technologies such as cloud, blockchain and AI, and develop in-house expertise. It also takes people out of their daily environments into disruptive atmospheres where they can explore ideas, connect business processes in new ways and connect to new ecosystems – all of which help to grow their business,” says General Manager, IBM Denmark Henrik Bodskov.

IBM now operates IBM Cloud Garages in major cities known for leading technology culture and innovation including San Francisco, Austin, London, Toronto, Nice, Tokyo, Singapore, Melbourne, New York City and now Copenhagen. Each Garage is housed within a local entrepreneurial community relevant to regional interests.

Today´s IBM Cloud Garage Opening further illustrates how IBM is continuing to carve a unique position in the cloud, establishing itself as the leader in high-value capabilities that fuel innovation
