Press release -

Iconic curve next up in the TCR Europe 2019

TCR Europe with its third event is held this weekend (June 7th–9th) at the legendary Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps, Belgium. The Bäckman siblings now meet the longest circuit on the calendar, the iconic curve Eau Rouge and Europe's elite drivers with high speed and two previous podium finishes.

It is now about two weeks since the siblings Andreas and Jessica Bäckman last competed in the TCR Europe. The second event was held at the Formula 1 circuit Hockenheimring and now the championship will enter the legendary Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps, just over 50 kilometers southeast of Liège in eastern Belgium. The third event will take place at this 7,004 km long circuit, including the iconic Eau Rouge curve, and it is often top-ranked when racing drivers name their favorite tracks. Spa-Francorchamps has had a given place in the Formula 1 calendar for many years and will now make room for the 34 competitors in the TCR Europe, including the Target Competition team with Andreas and Jessica Bäckman.

7,004 km - and the iconic Eau Rouge curve
The competition weekend starts with two free practice sessions on Friday, followed by qualifying on Saturday morning and the competition's first race on Saturday afternoon. The second and final race is held on Sunday and the siblings are excited.
– Looking forward to get back and compete again and it will be exciting to drive at the famous track at Spa, to be challenged in the Eau Rouge corner. From Hockenheim I bring my high speed with me and hopefully I can improve my results even more from last time, Andreas Bäckman says.
His sister Jessica agrees.
– With two previous podium finishes it’ll be fun to enter the longest circuit on the calendar, with many different curve combinations, which means that every tenth of a second is extremely important. Therefore I believe it’s going to be a difficult but exciting weekend and I’m hoping for good speed from the very start, Jessica Bäckman says.
