This weekend, the sixth round of the ADAC TCR Germany championship was held, where the siblings from the North of Sweden entered as guest drivers in the championship. This resulted in a positive qualifying, as well as tough races for both Bäckman’s. In the end - Jessica managed to finish on a well-earned podium spot in the final race of the weekend – her third podium spot this season.
ADAC TCR Germany is one of the most competitive TCR series around the world and attracts many spectators and media to the events. This weekend, September 13th-15th, it was time for the sixth round of the championship at the famous Formula 1 track Hockenheimring in Germany. The Bäckman sibling entered as guest drivers in the series and drove one Hyundai i30 N TCR car each for the Italian team Target Competition. Andreas made his debut in the series, while it was Jessica’s second appearance in the prestigious championship this year.
Jessica scored another podium on Hockenheimring
In May earlier this year, the Bäckman siblings drove the second round of the TCR Europe championship on Hockenheimring, where Jessica finished on a historical podium spot. Now, four months later, she climbed up on the same podium again – this time in second place.
- Feels amazing to be back on the podium again, this second place feels extra good after some bad luck this season. It also seems like Hockenheimring suits me perfectly, I hope to be back racing in Hockenheim soon again. Big thanks to Target Competition and Hyundai Motorsport Customer Racing for all the support, says Jessica Bäckman.

- It was a tough race weekend for me, the weekend started well with a second place on qualifying, but after that I was struggling to get everything right both races. I will bring all the positives and looking forward to Barcelona next weekend, says Andreas Bäckman.
Next up for the Bäckman’s is the penultimate event of TCR Europe 2019, held September 20th-22nd at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya in Barcelona, Spain.
