Free chip implants for Øredev attendees

Øredev, since 2005 the largest developer conference in Scandinavia with 1300+ attendees, 150+ sessions, and 100+ speakers will offer attendees free chip implants during 3-6 November in Malmö, Sweden.

NFC (Near Field Communication) is increasingly being used by a wide range of platforms and services for identification, logins, payments and information sharing purposes.

In parallel with growing use of NFC in everyday situations, another trend has emerged; subdermal NFC implants. The trend started amongst biohackers, but is spreading in tech and developer communities. The chip implants are used to replace key fobs, swipe cards and password as well as for data storage.

As organisers of Øredev our objective is to share knowledge and ideas within the broader IT domain. We see chip implants as an intriguing phenomenon. We therefore want to offer our attendees and guests the opportunity to explore this technology and its opportunities and limitations. Hence we will be offering all our attendees to have a chip implanted for free - of course on a voluntary basis!

We are also organising a full day workshop deep diving into user cases, app platforms and payment solutions for chip implants. The workshop is coordinated by Hannes Sjöblad, one of the founders of the biohacking association BioNyfiken and a pioneering chip implant user.
