Vinnova backs Kodiak Rating's Blockchain Innovation for better global Supply Chain transparency

After making headlines just two months ago for raising $12M SEK in risk capital, Kodiak Rating (cloud-based SRM platform provider) has been chosen to receive a Vinnova grant, focused on supporting innovation in Swedish businesses. This grant will support the research and development of a Blockchain innovation, focused on increasing the transparency and traceability of the global supply chain; more importantly, managing supplier-related risk.

Blockchain technology has officially reached the gates of buzzword heaven in the recent year or two. Blockchain’s recent notoriety has been paired with the hypotheses of it’s potential for business application within various elements of the business value chain, but more specifically- supply chain management.

In reality, the majority of tech vendors are yet to understand, or unlock, the true potential of blockchain technology for industry at large.

With the help of Vinnova’s backing, Kodiak Rating will conduct R&D of a Blockchain project, in the efforts to build a new normal for transparency in the global supply chain. “We see this as an opportunity to set the bar for supply chain innovation in the Nordics,” remarked Malin Schmidt, CEO and Founder of Kodiak Rating.

Applying Blockchain technology within supply chain management has the potential to reshape the compliance and governance of suppliers. In essence, Kodiak Rating will create the potential to really know one’s suppliers with smart contracting and decentralized verification networks.

And not just for customers of Kodiak Rating. “The vision is that all actors who want to participate in our Blockchain’s decentralized network are welcome to become a verified entity,” Schmidt added.

Corruption and untrustworthy supplier relationships are riddled throughout the global supply chain, still today. Blockchain innovations will be paramount in the eradication of dishonest business collaborations from the global marketplace.

The impact of this innovation is far-reaching, even beyond business and industry. It has the potential to create a tangible business case for more trustworthy data, in a field that lacks data reliability and verifiability. And, without feeding into the cliché too much, it’s a solution for society at large.

Kodiak Rating Blockhain lösning för transparens och spårbarhet i globala värdekedjor

För två månader sedan uppmärksammades Kodiak Rating for att ha tagit in 12 miljoner kronor i riskkapital för att få företaget att växa utanför Sverige. Nu har Kodiak Rating tilldelats finansiering av Vinnova. Tack vare Vinnovas finansiering kommer Kodiak Rating nu att kunna fortsätta utveckla vår Blockchain lösning med målet att sätta en ny norm för transparens inom den globala leverantörskedjan.
