SEST presents Macbeth by William Shakespeare
Something wicked this way comes, and it has found its home underground in Gamla Stan. Macbeth will be performed at Musikvalvet Baggen, a former wine cellar built long before William Shakespeare was even born.
The dynamic tale of ambition, violent death and the supernatural will be portrayed by three actors in a unique version with the script cut down to the central story. Macbeth, the warrior is told by the witches that he will be king, and from that moment, pushed on by his ambitious wife, his life is doomed.
The play is presented by SEST, The Stockholm English Speaking Theatre and is directed by Elisabeth Dahl from The Norwegian Shakespeare Company. In the roles are SEST’s Kristina Leon as Lady Macbeth, Richard Asker as Banquo and Macduff, and Keith Foster, television presenter at UR and SVT, playing Macbeth.
"Musikvalvet Baggen is a fantastic place to see Macbeth," Keith says. "Inside the ancient walls the audience will really feel the blood, sweat and magical evil that make up this classic story".
The play, which many actors consider to be unlucky, will première on Friday the 13th of November ...
