The rain has been falling continuously for several hours on the Galerie des Gobelins as the Carven show begins, instantly offering a striking contrast with the gloomy atmosphere outside. A nice surprise, for his Fall-Winter 2014-15 collection, Carven’s artistic director Guillaume Henry has opted for soft, bright colors such as ruby, coral, mustard and blue. The menu of this collection is faithful to the brand’s DNA, with for example pretty very feminine dresses that mark the waist before letting the lengths swish and swirl beautifully in the air. Not to mention the coats with their folded collars that hang perfectly, whether belted or not. Regarding his choice of print, Guillaume Henry has had fun embroidering rhinestone arrows here and there, be it on dresses, cashmere or fur coats, and even shoes! Another good idea, the towering black leather thigh boots worn next to the skin, the XXL leather gloves and the small bags in the form of a purse clutched in both hands, against the chest.
HAIR STYLING by JAMES PECIS
James Pecis is today lending his talent to a frankly technical grunge-look hairstyle. “I especially like Guillaume Henry’s attention to detail... So, for tonight, following our discussion, I imagined this not-too-sophisticated hairstyle, which captures Guillaume’s obsession to perfection”, says the hairstylist. Hence the grungy wave, freely inspired by the sophistication of the 40s and secretly held in place by a barely visible knitted elastic in the hair.
