Ulla Koivula of Magine becomes Member of The International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences

Ulla Koivula, EVP for Customer Delight at Magine (www.magine.com), has been selected as a member of The International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, best known for producing the International Emmy Awards. Magine is a pioneering cloud-based TV service for all devices, currently commercial in Sweden, and in beta tests in Germany and Spain.

Ulla’s role within The International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences allows her to attend all Board Meetings and panels held by the Academy worldwide, as well as the International Emmy World Television Festival. Members are also invited to International Academy Day, which is a prestigious gathering of television industry executives in a specific country with the mission to create, develop and organize a meaningful and unprecedented dialogue within the television industry, and foster a better understanding of regional business models and cultural institutions to help facilitate cross border collaboration.

Founded in 1969, The International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences is membership based organisation comprised of leading media and entertainment figures from over 50 countries and 500 companies from all sectors of the industry, who come together to discuss common issues and promote new strategies for the future development of global television. Each year, the Academy produces the International Emmy World Television Festival and the International Emmy Awards Gala in New York City. The Festival features programming from around the world, and presentations and panels from international producers and directors.   

Ulla Koivula - Background:

Ulla Koivula is EVP for Customer Delight at Magine (www.magine.com), and is additionally responsible for the marketing and sales division. The term ‘Customer Delight’ was coined by Magine, as the company felt that its role was not just about selling and marketing to viewers, but that it was their job to delight customers and build a relationship with them. Founded in 2010, Magine is a pioneering Swedish-based cloud service for watching live, catch-up and time-shifted TV. In place of complicated set-ups, boxes and subscriptions, Magine has created “TV as it should be”.

Prior to joining Magine, Ulla has played an integral role in the development of a number of different broadcasting media and telecommunication businesses, as well as founding and working in a number of innovative companies in her native Finland, including Talentum, TDF Entertainment, Telia, and PlusTV. Whilst she was Marketing Director at PlusTV, the first pay television distributors in the Finnish terrestrial network, Ulla first came into contact with founding members of the Magine team.

 Since joining Magine in 2012, she has been heavily involved in international growth and launching the service in new markets.
