The countdown to the biggest international sporting event in Malmö in 2011 is now on.
- 100 days until the opening of the Fanzone.
- 100 days until handball mania hits Malmö.
- 100 days until the first match, Sweden-Chile.
Preparations are underway for the big party in Malmö next year. A huge clock was put in position in
Gustav Adolf’s Square in the heart of Malmö today, to mark the countdown. As of today, Tuesday 5th October, everyone who crosses the square will be able to follow the countdown to the Men’s Handball World Championship.
“Everyone’s going to know about next year’s major sporting event in Malmö,” says Petter Rörby
Every day from 13-30 January next year, fans will be able to watch all the handball matches live on the big screen at the Fanzone. Food and drinks will be on sale and there’ll be plenty of entertainment on offer between the matches.
At the Fanzone, handball fans will gather together to view all the matches and cheer on their teams. The Fanzone is the pre-match venue where you can meet up with other fans. Fanzone is a place for everyone, not just for handball fans. All are welcome to join in the party, mingle and have a great time.
“We’re looking forward to a spectacular crowd from all over the world coming together at our Fanzone at Slagthuset in Malmö city centre,” says Project Manager Petter Rörby
