Grammy-winning artist Afrojack has impressed many with his skills and ability to transform clubs and arenas into powerful dance parties. Now the Dutch-born DJ and producer is booked for Malmöfestivalen in Malmö, Sweden. The festival is the largest city festival in the Nordic countries and takes place between Friday 9 August to Friday 16 August.
Afrojack is known for his will to challenge the boundaries of electronic dance music. His productions are up-tempo, unrestrained and dynamic! Taking the listener on a breathtaking journey, Afrojack’s music is constantly reaching new dimensions, always infused with bombastic beats and sublime moods.
Born as Nick van de Wall in Spijkenisse, The Netherlands, Afrojack’s real break-through came in 2010 with the single ”Take Over Control”. Stopping at nothing, the following years featured collaborations with David Guetta on the number one single ”Titanium (feat. Sia)”. The list goes on including international stars such as Beyoncé, Pitbull, Sting and will.i.am whom he has co-created major hits for.
One thing is for sure the sound of Afrojack has dominated dance floors all over the world. This year, he took the music to a whole new level releasing the hit single ”Switch” and the cross-genre hit single ”Sober” with hip-hop heavyweights Rae Sremmurd and pop singer Stanaj. Afrojack has also worked with David Guetta, Charli XCX and French Montana on the dance explosion single ”Dirty Sexy Money”.
Those who have been lucky enough to see Afrojack live know that they can expect something out of the ordinary. He broke a record at Tomorrowland, the biggest dance music festival in Europe, where he performed 8 times in 5 days! He also headlines the well-renowned Ultra Music Festival in Miami and EDC Las Vegas on their mainstages. Recently, he returned to the Wynn Hotel for his Las Vegas residency and is working on new collaborations preparing to release an album later this year.
Afrojack’s setlists are unexpected and he leapes between genres such as electronic dance music, hip-hop and pop with striking smoothness; securing his 8th place in DJ Mag’s Top 100 DJ:s list last year. He was named one of the 50 most important people in electronic dance music by Rolling Stone magazine and earned a Grammy for ”Best Remix Recording” on pop icon Madonna’s ”Revolver” in 2011, all adding up to Afrojacks legacy within EDM.
At Malmöfestivalen Afrojack will be performing on the main stage, wrapping up the final night of the festival. Be prepared for some hypnotizing beats and some serious dance!
