Two nice drama nominations

The nice drama series Swedish Dicks and Black Widows are the finalists for the C21 International Drama Awards.

The nominees are voted for by the world´s leading scripted commissioners and buyers. From 483 entries across 12 categories, the finalists reflect the prolific drama output over the past 12 months. There were nearly twice as many series bidding for glory this year, reflecting a diverse mix from all corners of the world.

Swedish Dicks is an American-Swedish comedy web series created and produced by Brain Academy and distributed by Lionsgate. The series is following two private investigators trying to make a living in Los Angeles, and was Viaplays first original production when it premiered September 2016. The series is starring Hollywood stars Peter Stormare and Keanu Reeves. Swedish Dicks is nominated as one of six series in the category Best Comedy Series.

– I’m so excited that our comedy show is one of the nominated among such a strong line up. This proofs that a combination of comedy, procedural and mystery really works. And of course it’s a igniter for the second season, says Peter Settman, founder and executive producer at Brain Academy.

Black Widows, the Nordic Noir drama series following three women who team up to kill their husbands, has had its success in several adaptations around the world. It is the Scandinavian version produced by Moskito for Viaplay that is now nominated for Best Non-English Drama Series.

– It is an honour to be nominated for the best non-english dramaseries. Black Widows is a special project for us, there are many versions of it around the world, but this Scandinavian one is being produced by ourselves. Looks like the unique tone and gripping storytelling of the series works universally and it feels great, says Executive Producer Roope Lehtinen on behalf of Moskito.

The winners will be announced on November 30 at a gala dinner awards ceremony at 8 Northumberland Avenue during Content London.
