Stands at Euro Mine Expo are disappearing fast

Bookings for this spring’s Euro Mine Expo are going really well. Despite a greater number of places this year, we’re now down to the last few stands.

– We have drawn up a waiting list for people who want an indoor stand, says Ann-Sofie Greander at Nolia, which arranges Euro Mine Expo.

Investments in the Barents Region up to 2020 are estimated to total 121 billion euro according to a survey carried out by the Barents Företagarråd, a federation of employer organisations in Norway, Sweden and Finland.

There is much to indicate that the figure will be even higher. Hans Nordgård is project manager at the University of Nordland and the Bodø Graduate School of Business. He has made his own studies of companies’ and authorities’ investment plans and has arrived at a total figure of between 2,000 and 3,000 billion euro over the next 10-15 years in the northern areas of Sweden, Norway and Finland alone.

Most of these investments will be made directly in the mining industry or connected in some other way to the expansion of mining in the Barents Region.

The next Euro Mine Expo will take place from 12-14 June 2012 in Skellefteå, right at the heart of the Barents Region, and one of the fair’s themes is mining in the Barents Region. The prerequisites for mining in the region have never been better with new mines being established, old ones being reopened and a great many deposits just waiting to be mined.

There is also great interest in the fair, borne out by the number of bookings which are well on the way to beating all previous records.

– Our aim is to be Europe’s best meeting place in the mining industry in Europe, says Ann-Sofie Greander at Nolia, which arranges Euro Mine Expo.

And the fair is well on the way to success. Despite more places being available this year, all indoor stands have been booked and there are also several exhibitors on our waiting list.  But it's still possible to book an outdoor stand.

Another of the fair’s three conference themes is: Smarter, Deeper, Better mining.

Working smarter, drilling deeper and increasing quality are becoming increasingly important factors for remaining profitable. Mining therefore needs to be open to new ways of working, innovations and new technologies.

Before the fair opens, exhibitors and visitors will be able to go on a study trip to the National Drill Core archive and GeoExpo in Malå and the St Anna underground church in Kristineberg. And on the first day of the fair, there will be a field trip to the Rönnskär smelter and the Renström Mine, which is Sweden’s deepest.

The Euro Mine Expo is a biannual event and this year’s is the third in succession. The first two fairs were very much appreciated and this year everything is under one roof at Skellefteå Kraft Arena.
