Q1 2017: Norconsult showing high level of activity and solid figures

Norconsult returned encouraging results for the first quarter of 2017. Revenue totalled NOK 1,151 million (NOK 1,008million in Q1 2016), and operating profits amounted to NOK 92.4 million (NOK 75.7 million). The operating margin was a solid 8 per cent (7.5 per cent).

“We are pleased to be able to present both growth in revenue and improved profits for the first quarter of the year. The level of activity remains high in several of our market areas, which has helped Norconsult make a strong start on the year,” says Per Kristian Jacobsen, CEO.

Development in the Norwegian market has made a particularly strong contribution to the growth. Moreover, the level of activity is high in the other Scandinavian countries – especially Sweden – as well. Growth in the quarter was boosted by the fact that Easter fell in the second quarter this year, rather than in the first quarter as it did in 2016. Nevertheless, the underlying growth remains strong at around 6.5 per cent.

Three acquisitions in Norway
Norconsult acquired three companies in Western Norway during the first quarter: Faaland Arkitekter in Bergen, Leiv Nes Arkitekter in Stavanger and the consultancy company Kon-Sul, which is represented locally in the districts of Haugalandet and Ryfylke.

Norconsult has thus reinforced its position as the largest player in its field in Norway, and one of the leading interdisciplinary consultancy companies in the Nordic region. Every year, the company completes more than 20,000 large and small assignments – nationally and internationally – specialising in the areas of regional planning, project design and architecture.
