Östgruppen utsedd till Rainbow Warrior 2014!

Vid en ceremoni i Stockholm har Östgruppen tagit emot utmärkelsen ”Rainbow Warrior 2014” för arbetet med att uppmärksamma HBTQ-rättigheter i Östeuropa.

-  Vi känner stor stolthet och tacksamhet. För oss är det självklart att inkludera den här frågan i arbetet för de mänskliga rättigheterna. Utmärkelsen sporrar oss också att fortsätta arbetet med att uppmärksamma den mycket utsatta situationen för HBTQ-rörelsen i Östeuropa, säger Östgruppens ordförande Martin Uggla

Bakom utmärkelsen står organisationen The International Lesbian and Gay Cultural Network (ILGCN). Motiveringen lyder:

…for – in this 10th anniversary year – continuing to include LGBT rights in seminars, discussions and other activities in the struggle for human rights in the nations of Eastern Europe.

…for confirming that human rights battles in dictatorships and oppressive, intolerant regimes should not be fought by – and for – only one segment of society – but all working together – men and women, straight and gay, trans, differently abled, HIV positive and negative, native and foreign-born and all others.

..and for confirming that when the colors of the rainbow are stretched over geographic, psychological and cultural borders, they do not become weaker but instead more brilliant, more beautiful and more visible to anyone willing to look up at the sky.

Utmärkelsen delas med World Pride Toronto 2014 and Quezon/Manila Prides and Film Festival 2014.
