Open welcomes ex-McCann Managing Director Magdalena William to its strategic account team

Magdalena William, a former Managing Director within the McCann Erickson agency network, has joined Open Communications, an international brand communications agency based in Stockholm, as Senior Account Director. She will work closely with Open CEO Gunilla Lundström and the strategic account team to support the agency’s growing roster of global clients.

“Magdalena is a dream recruit,” says Gunilla Lundström, CEO and Partner at Open. “She has all the right qualities we were looking for in a senior account director, with extensive experience from both the agency and client sides – a true professional who can act as a sounding board and strategic guide to our international customers.” Currently, Magdalena is working with Open clients based in Sweden, Finland, Shanghai and Boston, Massachusetts, USA.

Event, social, digital and content
Prior to joining Open, Magdalena worked as an Account Director at Lowe Brindfors and Peakcock Advertising as well as on the client side within the media and IT business. An experienced account handler and strategist, she brings with her first-hand knowledge from a diverse range of disciplines, such as event, content marketing, digital and social media. Clients have ranged from IT companies like Microsoft, Nokia and Ericsson to consumer brands like Electrolux and Procordia-group groups Risifruitt, Grandiosa, FUN Light as well as HiPP, a German children’s food.

Creating immersive brand experiences 
As a curious and open-minded person, Magdalena says she loves it when clients are able to convey their “soul” or "reason for being" through a truly immersive brand experience. “When you tell somebody about ice-cream, they understand it intellectually, but when they experience it they never forget it,” she says. Her background in the event and brand experience area is certain to be of value to Open clients who want to boost their impact at trade shows or through special events.

Working as a DJ in Rome 
What you might not know about Magdalena is that she once worked as a DJ in Rome and has a true passion for Italy, cooking and travel. When not working, she’s spending time reading, traveling, being with her family and restoring furniture. Welcome to the team Magdalena!
