Scandinavian Photo and Fryshuset extend their cooperation and start media center for young people

During the summer Scandinavian Photo and Fryshuset arranged the project "Filmsommar 2.0" where 60 young people were given the chance to bring their stories to life through film and photography. The aim was to increase the interest and the passion for film and photography amongst young people. Now Fryshuset, with the support of Scandinavian Photo, start the media center "Missing Files" for young people aged 13-23.

”Missing Files” is a platform based on three parts: Free Space, Education and Assignment/Job. Within these the participants may implement their own projects and productions, get media training and education and opportunity to sell their productions and services.

- We are very pleased to be able to contribute to creating this platform and business. "Filmsommar 2.0" was the start of our long-term effort to ”create more creators” and highlighting the stories of young people. Missing Files will be able to offer guidance and equipment for free creation, training and jobs for young people, says Maria Göransdotter Lindén, CMO at Scandinavian Photography.

The central part of the Missing Files method is to create meetings between young people from different backgrounds, abilities and experiences. The business is based on diversity and will make special efforts to recruit groups that are underrepresented in media today. The vision is to increase the variability of the stories covered in media today and to create new paths into the industry through close collaboration with various stakeholders.

- We live in a time where exclusion, injustice and prejudice characterizes a large part of our world. To break this pattern, it is important to increase understanding of each other and the world. With Missing Files we want to arouse curiosity, passion and joy of storytelling among young people and encourage them to push the limits. We create meetings between differences to find similarities and thus increase understanding, diversity and innovation both in business but also in our productions, says Hengameh Haylie Hassas, project manager at Fryshuset.

50 young people are already involved in the start-up and it is expected that "Missing Files" will engage 100 young people in the first year.
