Visa is investing further in risk based consumer authentication by acquiring CardinalCommerce. The international payments giant is also pushing hard on EU to make changes to allow the risk based approach with 3DSecure - the American way of handling e-commerce fraud. I.e. fraud is not a problem - just add the cost of it on-top of consumer prices and try to limit the cost of fraud without bugging the customer who is always right (and stupid).

The highly voiced Visa predictions of customers abandoning checkouts might be right, if you implement something complicated. 3DSecure with TouchID (BankID) is running smoothly in Sweden.

Hopefully the horns are blowing for David and a glorious victory where security and good customer centric solutions will prevail in Europe. Signicat and CA have a customer centric 3DSecure solution with authentication by leading eID providers in Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland, Estonia, Spain and the Netherlands as a start. You don't have to big to be clever.
