H.M. Queen Silvia and the Minister for Culture opened international conference on children’s culture
– The most important thing you can give a child is tools to Explore the world! In this case museums are a great complement to the school.
H.M. Queen Silvia said in her speech at the opening for the Explore! Conference at the The National Museum of Science and Technology in Stockholm today October 8. Lena Adelsohn Liljeroth, the Swedish Minister for Culture and Sports added:
– The right for children to culture is now a cornerstone in Sweden's cultural policy. The most visible result is a close cooperation between our cultural institutions and the school right from pre-school.
The Explore! conference is a meeting place for professionals working in children’s museums, museums and science centers to explore the latest in creative learning, new technology and exhibitions for children.
The conference will take place at three museums in Stockholm: October 8 at the National Museum of Science and Technology, October 9 at the Swedish History Museum and October 10 at the Swedish Museum of Natural History.
Keynote speakers are Tilde Björfors, founder and artistic director of Cirkus Cirkör, and professor Anne Bamford, St Mary’s University College, London and the Institute of Education, Hong Kong.
