Swedish success at the Hannover Messe creates new partnerships for the Swedish Exhibition & Congress Centre

The Hannover Messe opened on April 1 with the inauguration of the Swedish Pavilion. German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Sweden’s Prime Minister Stefan Löfven were among the many prominent people taking part. The Swedish Exhibition & Congress Centre, together with Automation Region and ten other exhibiting companies, jointly hosted the Swedish automation stand – Digimania. The pavilion, which focused on Sweden’s powerful capacity for innovation, created ideal conditions for collaboration between start-ups, large companies such as ABB, and academia. The Swedish Exhibition & Congress Centre is also deepening its collaboration with both Deutsche Messe and Hannover Messe.

There has been great international attention on Sweden as a nation driven by industry and innovation, and the stand created a platform and hub for Swedish companies, networks, and public authorities that want to engage and build networks.

Several international delegations from Indonesia, India, Denmark, Germany, France and other countries visited the pavilion, where seminars and technology pitches were arranged, and many informal meetings took place. The booth was visited by several ministers, including Matilda Ernkrans, Minister for Higher Education and Research, and Ann Linde, Minister Foreign Trade. Johan Söderström, CEO of ABB, also visited the booth.

– The Swedish Exhibition & Congress Centre’s mission is to promote the Swedish business community, so it is only natural for us to be present in Hannover. We have strengthened our partnership with both Deutsche Messe and Hannover Messe, and in future we will cooperate more closely in some areas. Hannover Messe will take part in Scanautomatic 2020 with a pavilion. We see great potential in continuing our investment in Hannover Messe, with more organisations participating in 2020, says Peter Scott, Vice President of the Swedish Exhibition & Congress Centre.

The Swedish Exhibition & Congress Centre has the largest portfolio of industrial fairs in Sweden, such as Scanautomatic, ProcessTeknik, Underhållsmässan and Elfack and the Hannover Messe is mirroring several of them. The strategic partnership means that The Swedish Exhibition & Congress Centre has access to the world's largest international platform with solutions for the industry and for the customers, it opens up new opportunities for an internationalization of Swedish industry.
