ENG: Swedish UbiGo participates in UITP Global Public Transport Summit

On June 9, leading representatives from public transport authorities and operators around the world will gather in Stockholm to attend the international public transport organisation UITP’s Global Public Transport Summit, hosted by SL. UbiGo will be involved in its capacity as a pioneer in what has become known as Mobility as a Service.

“We have noticed that quite a few organisations and individuals in the industry are intrigued by our service, which covers all your travel needs using just one app, and all on one invoice. Mobility as a Service is very much part of modern thinking and has become a highly publicised trend internationally,” said Hans Arby, CEO and founder of UbiGo.

Whilst many people speak about Mobility as a Service, UbiGo is the first to produce a functioning solution. The ultimate aim is to simplify people’s daily travel and make cities greener by creating a situation where fewer people need to own their own car. This is where public transport has a key role to play.

During the conference, Hans Arby will speak about the challenges that ensue from bringing together the insight and expertise of municipal, regional and private companies and organisations to create a service that has the support of all concerned. And which also delivers a good end-product for the user.

“Our service is entirely dependent on successful collaboration between all those involved, not least public transport. We want people to feel they have greater flexibility and freedom in their travel. This makes huge demands on us and our partners,” said Hans Arby.

UbiGo recently got investment from the strategic French investor Via ID which focuses on start-ups in the new mobility sector. At present UbiGo is operating in Stockholm although the goal is to expand the service to other cities around the world. The summit, which will take place on June 9-12, will offer UbiGo a forum where it can establish new contacts with public transport authorities and operators in other countries.
