Volvo S90 vinner designpriset Production Car Design of the Year 2015

En panel bestående av professionella bildesigners runt om i världen har röstat fram Volvo S90 till den prestigefyllda titeln Production Car Design of the Year 2015.

Utmärkelsen, som presenteras av Car Design News, representerar den absoluta toppen av designpriser i bilbranschen. Juryn består av 18 av världens mest framstående bildesigners från företag som Bentley, Daimler, McLaren och Ferrari.

- Hur vi använt avancerade material, klassiska proportioner och kontrollerad formgivning av ytor visar på vår vilja att gå vår egen väg. Vi vill inte passa in, vi vill sticka ut, säger Thomas Ingenlath, Senior Vice President på Volvo Car Group.

Volvo Cars har på senare tid väckt stor uppmärksamhet för sin harmoniska design och användandet av utmärkande designdetaljer, till exempel de eleganta luftintagen i nya Volvo S90.

Volvo S90 valdes av juryn från en lista med 20 kandidater och hyllades för sina proportioner, materialval och tidlösa design.

Car Design News chefredaktör Owen Ready kommenterade valet av Volvo S90 med:

- För sin rena och lugna design mot den typ av ’styling-underhållning’ som har förpestat industrin allt för länge”.

Priset delades ut vid en ceremoni under bilsalongen i Genéve.

Volvo Car Group in 2015

For the 2015 financial year, Volvo Car Group recorded an operating profit of 6,620 MSEK (2,128 MSEK in 2014). Revenue over the period amounted to 164,043 MSEK (137,590 MSEK). For the full year 2015, global sales reached a record 503,127 cars, an increase of 8 per cent versus 2014. The record sales and operating profit cleared the way for Volvo Car Group to continue investing in its global transformation plan.
