WU-TANG CLAN SIGNAR MED WARNER BROS. RECORDS OCH SLÄPPER NYTT ALBUM

Gruppens första release på Warner Bros ”A Better Tomorrow” släpps den 2 december, 20 år efter att debutalbumet såg dagens ljus. 

Warner Bros Records (WBR) meddelade i fredags att man tecknat ett globalt skivkontrakt med legendariska hiphop-gruppen Wu-Tang Clan, innehållande medlemmarna RZA, GZA, Method Man, Raekwon, Ghostface Killah, Inspectah Deck, U-God, Masta Killa, och Cappadonna. Som grupp har Wu-Tang sålt över 6,5 miljoner skivor i USA samtidigt som de har sålt nästan 40 miljoner album världen över.

Bandet sa själva:  “Wu-Tang Clan is excited to join the Warner family of esteemed artists. After 20 years in the business with different label outlets, we are delighted to be amongst a team of industry professionals who understand our unique artistry and will help spread it to the masses unadulterated. RZA and his brother Divine CEO of Wu-Tang felt synergy with executive/producer Rob Cavallo and Cameron Strang, and decided Warner Bros. would be a suitable home for their brand and band, and a great place to carry on the Wu-Tang saga. In the words of Ghostface, when it comes to being signed to Warner Bros., we're getting Bugs Bunny money.”

Under sin karriär har gruppen släppt sammanlagt fem studioalbum och 19 samlingsalbum. Var och en av deras första tre album – ”Ange Wu-Tang” (36 Chambers), ”Wu-Tang Forever” och ”The W” har sålt platina i USA, och ”Wu-Tang Forever” debuterade som #1 på Billboard 200-listan. Den 22 augusti förra året gjorde gruppen sin blott andra spelning i Sverige på Gröna Lunds scen inför otroliga 17 000 åskådare. Deras storhet var ett tydligt faktum då människor klättrade upp i träd, på hustak och i åkattraktionerna för att få en glimt av scenen.

Den kult-förklarade gruppen från Staten Island är en av 90-talets mest inflytelserika hiphopgrupper. De har sedan debutalbumet släppt album både som grupp och i soloprojekt och i processen har alla nio medlemmar blivit individuella stjärnor.
