Zekler Nordic Line – safety eyewear where Nordic design meets the tough requirements of working life

Zekler is now introducing a series of protective eyewear designed in collaboration with the product designer Anders Kristiansson. The result is a collection that isn't only surrounded by an exciting idiom. But also where everything from fitting to function has been developed based on rigorous pre-studies and testing. All to create safety eyewear optimised to the user's needs.

"This safety eyewear has almost completely been inspired by sporty sunglasses styles. We wanted to create an alternative with a purer style. At the same time our ambition, as always, has been to improve comfort and function. And now with the results in hand it's clear that we've succeeded", says Maria Wiland, Zekler range manager. To gain new perspectives in the development of Nordic Line Zekler has been working together with product designer Anders Kristiansson from the Swedish design studio Radie.

–  "Just as the name suggests we have been working on a typically Nordic expression in Nordic Line. Clean, simple yet clear lines and a choice of material with a matt black finish that contrasts with glossy surfaces", explains Anders Kristiansson.

The choice of designing the collection in precisely this manner was no coincidence. The entire development of Nordic Line rests on a base of a number of different analyses, pre-studies and special workshops.

–  These meetings have provided us with important feedback. Particularly concerning function. For example, some comments were made that the lens angle of existing adjustable safety eyewear could in general be changed too easily. "As a direct response to this we're introducing a model in Nordic Line where the lens angle is adjustable", explains Maria Wiland, Zekler range manager.

To begin with Nordic Line will consist of three different models that can be supplied with several different lenses. All the models are available in small, medium and large for optimal fitting and comfort. Together with the narrow sidepieces this provides a tighter fit against the ear when using hearing protection.

–  "We are always looking to create personal protective equipment that is primarily safe, but also comfortable and attractive.  This goes hand-in-hand more than you'd believe. Protection that chafes or that the user thinks is ugly will be used less. Consequently attractive protection gives safer protection", Maria says.
