Heads of Jury announced for GONG 2013 Creative Circle Awards

Ronald Ng
Chief Creative Officer, BBDO Proximity Singapore

Ronald graduated with a Bachelor of Journalism from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln sometime in the mid „90s.

After doing his agency rounds, he joined BBDO/Proximity Malaysia in 2004. During his tenure there, the agency proved to be a truly integrated office with awards across „so called‟ mainstream, digital and direct marketing disciplines.

The Big Won Global Report ranked their HELP Wheelchair campaign as the 6th most awarded „Innovative and Alternative Media‟ campaign in 2008. The 2009 Big Won Report ranked BBDO/Proximity Malaysia as the 13th most awarded agency in the world. In 2010, the Gunn Report ranked the Jeep „Two Worlds‟ campaign as the No.1 outdoor campaign in the world, and the agency the 8th most awarded worldwide. Marketing Effectiveness honors include a gold at the Asian Marketing Effies 2008.

In 2009, Ronald joined BBDO New York as Executive Vice President/Executive Creative Director. He led successful pitch wins for Orbitz and the Johnson & Johnson global baby business. Earlier this year, his interactive installation for Autism Speaks was accepted into the New York Museum of Modern Art (MOMA) archives.

In August 2012, Ronald took on the role of Chief Creative Officer of BBDO/Proximity Singapore.
All in all, his proudest achievements are his sons, Jonah and Noah – great ideas, beautifully produced.

Melvyn Lim
Executive Creative Director, OgilvyOne Singapore

Melvyn is the Executive Creative Director of OgilvyOne Singapore whose clients are Unilever, Google, Nike, Levi's, Singtel and the Singapore Economic Development Board, to name a few. His works have won accolades at effectiveness and creative award shows including The FWA, Cannes Lions, Clio, Effie, One Show, Spikes, Tomorrow Awards and the Webby of which he is also a permanent judge.

He contributes to the industry by speaking at various conferences and client workshops and most recently, he was a part of the Design Society Singapore where he curated the 100 Icons exhibition, a documentation of Singapore's modern design history.

Melvyn spends most of his time trawling the web for new technology, gadgets and music. His other life essential is the Zombie Survival Guide by Max Brooks because there's always that one chance the world will face an apocalyptic zombie attack.

Terrence Tan
Founder & Chief Creative Officer, Ice Inc

With an artist‟s eye for craft and aesthetics, Terrence always believes that a good story transcends language and geography. A creative veteran with more than 28 years in the industry, Terrence has clinched over 400 coveted industry awards and is the creative force behind 100 TV commercials and counting.

His illustrious TVC portfolio spans the highly popular Nippon Paint commercial (a D&AD entry) and government agencies including RSAF and HPB; and recently he adds on MediaCorp‟s Saving Gaia TVC to his directorial strength – the most popular locally produced TVC with over 700 views on Youtube.

Lauded as IAS‟ Hall of Fame Creative Director of the Year in 2008 and one of Singapore‟s most influential Creative Directors for 8 years, Terrence continues to blaze new trails as the chief creative officer and founder of creative hotshop, ICE INC.

Roy Poh
Creative Director, A Beautiful Design

Beautiful is a design studio set up by creative director, Roy Poh. Nominated by Institute of Advertising Singapore as 15 most influential Creative Directors in Singapore for 2006, 2007, 2010 and 2011, Beautiful was awarded Design Agency of the year at the Creative Circle Awards 2012.
Roy has proven that good work need not be given up just to survive in today‟s market with awards like
the D&AD, Oneshow, Art Director‟s Club, Type Director‟s Club, Canneslion, Clio Awards, Young Guns, Communication Arts, Singapore Creative Circle Awards, Singapore Designers Award and many more of his projects have been featured in renowned industry periodicals. Most recently, he received the President‟s Design Award 2012, the most prestigious design award in Singapore.
Roy has also been invited to judge at both international and local award shows like the D&AD Global Award in London, Cannes Lion and Spikes Asia Awards, Australia Young Guns Design & Advertising Award, the Singapore Crowbar Award, the Singapore Creative Circle Award and Young Asian Designers Award.

He constantly devote his personal time to the industry by tutoring students, contributing his services to design councils and associations, on various advisory panels for local art schools, participating in charity events through his designs and supporting the Singapore Design Festivals. Roy was also invited to give a talk on „Creativity in Singapore‟ in London together with Minister of Communications and the Arts, Dr Lee Boon Yang.

Roy, together with 6 other industry creative leaders, founded The Design Society. A Singapore registered, non-profit organization dedicated to the goals of raising the general standard of design in Singapore, and growing its reach internationally. The Society focused on Applied Graphic Design and its contributions to Singapore visual culture and society in general. Seeking to inspire local designers and engage the public through greater understanding and appreciation for good design.
