Asia PR Werkz played host to an immensely successful community event in Singapore for start-ups, venture capitalists and other key stakeholders of the entrepreneur ecosystem. On 24 October 2018, hosted by The Open Vault by OCBC, Asia PR Werkz and YourStory, India’s definitive platform for start-ups, welcomed over 80 attendees for the YourStory Dialogue 2018.

India and Singapore have two of the fastest-growing start-up ecosystems in Asia and the event’s stellar set of speakers and panellists shared their industry experiences across three very engaging sessions.

Our first session, ‘Beyond Fundraising – The Founder and VC Perspective’ had on the panel, Vertex Ventures and Zimplistic Inventions. Moderated by Startup-O, this session highlighted the challenges around aligning interests of venture capitals with owners. Through an entrepreneur’s journey, the audience gained an understanding of how key decisions around profitability and growth can impact businesses.

The second session, ‘Lessons in Venture Investing in Asia’ saw representatives from Golden Equator, SeedPlus, Rekanext and Qualgro discuss the growth opportunities for start-ups in the region. The panel was moderated by The Business Times and focussed on the evolution of venture investing in Asia, the themes that have emerged and the ones that are likely to shape the industry in the coming years.

The last session, ‘Corporate Partnerships: A Secret Weapon In The Start-Up Arsenal’ brought together OCBC, Shopmatic, BankBazaar International and PwC’s Venture Hub. Moderated by impress.AI, they discussed collaboration between behemoths and small players, structuring disruptive innovation and what corporates can gain by supporting smaller businesses.
