LUXURY HOSPITALITY DESIGN FIRM BLINK TO RELAUNCH ILLUSTRIOUS REGENT BRAND IN JAKARTA

For Immediate Release

16 February 2015

SINGAPORE: Leading luxury hospitality design firm BLINK Design Group has captured the interior design and building concept brief for Regent Jakarta, as the world famous hotel brand returns to the Indonesian capital.

The appointment follows collaborations with Regent Hotels and Resorts on projects in Phuket, Bali and Taipei, with Jakarta the fourth the design firm has worked on as it establishes itself as the go-to designer for the hospitality brand as it expands across Asia Pacific and Europe.

“We have developed a strong understanding of the unique qualities of the Regent brand and the vision of the company,” said BLINK Founder and Senior Creative Director Clint Nagata. “We are delighted to be awarded the building concept and interior design briefs for Regent Jakarta and we’ll look forward to continuing our partnership and once again create a leadership position for the hotel group in the luxury segment in a very important and vibrant market.”

BLINK’s winning pitch drew on the cultural identity of Jakarta and over 400 years of postcolonial ethnic integration of the city’s own Betawi culture with the Javanese, Balinese, Dutch and Chinese cultures to inspire the concepts for the interior spaces.

The design firm chose batik to exemplify the traditional values of legacy and heritage. Partnering with Jakarta’s leading young designers to modify patterns and given them relevance and a consistency of language, BLINK is creating a true sense of place for the hotel.

Sense of place: The new-look Regent Jakarta weaves post-Colonial accents into the city’s Betawi culture to create contemporary design infused with the essence of Jakarta.

Regent Jakarta will be part of Mangkuluhur City, a mixed-use development comprised of offices, luxury residences and hotel. Regent Jakarta’s 126 hotel rooms and suites and 107 exclusive Regent Residences will attract a mix of domestic and international travelers drawn to its prime location and luxury services and amenities.

The hotel will feature an all-day dining restaurant, a signature specialty restaurant and library bar, as well as a luxurious Regent Spa and wellness facilities, and comprehensive meeting rooms and function venues, including an opulent Grand Ballroom.

“As Regent Hotels and Resorts expands its global footprint, we continue to seek growth opportunities in gateway cities,” said Regent Senior Vice President of Development Arjan De Boer. “In this quest for consistency, quality and understanding we have again found a strong partner in BLINK and we look forward to working with them on this project and establishing it as an icon in the city for luxury hospitality.”

Regent Jakarta is scheduled to welcome guests in early 2018 as it takes its place amongst the finest hotels in Asia.
