Do You Know an Outstanding Young Innovator?

EmTech Singapore is seeking 10 innovators under the age of 35 who exemplify the spirit of innovation in business and technology. Since 1999, MIT Technology Review has organized the Innovators Under 35 competition, which has honored some of the world’s most brilliant minds such as Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg, JB Straubel of Tesla, Silicon Valley veteran investor Marc Andreessen and Nobel laureate Konstantin Novoselov.

What is Innovators Under 35 Singapore?
The Innovators Under 35 Singapore is the regional segment of the global TR35 competition. This covers all countries in Southeast Asia plus Australia and New Zealand. 10 honorees will be chosen by an esteemed panel of judges and the editors of Technology Review. The aim is to recognize young researchers and entrepreneurs who are using technology to come up with creative and inspirational projects to provide solutions to real problems. 

Who can join?

  • Must be a citizen or current resident of a Southeast Asian country, Australia or New Zealand
  • Must be under the age of 35 on 1 October 2015 
  • Anyone who has a brilliant idea and has developed a project based on technological innovation and applied research. Every field of research will be accepted. People coming from universities and research centers, start-ups, SMEs, corporations, and non-profit organizations are encouraged to participate. 
  • Categories include biomedicine , computing, communications, energy, materials, web & internet, and transportation

Important criteria

  • Innovators who introduce new and better solutions that change the way people live or work 
  • Breakthrough innovations and their capacity to make an impact on society as a whole, and to lead the future of technology 
  • Accomplishments that are poised to have a dramatic impact on the world as we know it

What are you looking for in the nominee description?

  • Current professional CV (2 pages) 
  • One-page brief capsule summary of the technical work for which you believe the nominee deserves recognition, including an explanation of its impact, both within the nominee’s field and in the wider world 
  • Names of three references

How are the 10 honorees selected?

A distinguished panel of judges—technologists, inventors, entrepreneurs, and editors of MIT Technology Review—uses the submitted information to evaluate the nominees. They make the final selections based on these judgments. 

What are the benefits of an Innovators Under 35 honoree?

  • You automatically become a candidate for the global TR35 competition 
  •  You will present a three-minute elevator pitch at the EmTech Singapore conference in January 2015
  • Exposure to science and technology leaders leaders and decision makers
