Explore the tensions between an Asia that is growing together and an Asia that remains disunited.

There are great expectations that Asia can become the world's dominant center of gravity, yet great challenges remain from economic integration to dangerous territorial disputes. With much focus on the proposed ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) and the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP), will such measures be enough to forestall conflict? How do other major trends such as surging global gas production and the shifting U.S. military posture impact Asia? This lecture will explore the tensions between an Asia that is growing together and an Asia that remains disunited.

Speaker: Dr Parag Khanna

Short Bio:

Dr Parag Khanna is a leading global strategist, world traveler and best-selling author. He is Director of the Hybrid Reality Institute. In 2008, Parag was named one of Esquire’s “75 Most Influential People of the 21st Century,” and featured in WIRED magazine’s “Smart List.” Parag is regularly featured in media around the world such as the New York Times, TIME, Financial Times, and Wall Street Journal, and appears regularly on CNN, BBC, Al Jazeera, PBS, and NPR. He holds a PhD from the London School of Economics, and Bachelors and Masters degrees from the School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University.
