Singapore EXPO shares with Heart

Singapore EXPO Convention and Exhibition Centre recently partnered the Singapore Heart Foundation in support of Project Heart 2015, an event that saw more than 1,000 school staff trained and certified in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) at Singapore EXPO’s Hall 9A.

As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility campaign, SingEx Venues, the management company of Singapore EXPO, provided the venue for this life-saving accreditation event, which was led by certified instructors from the Singapore Heart Foundation. Participants were trained over a 3 hour session to ascertain if a victim is suffering from cardiac arrest, how to perform Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and how to administer an Automated External Defibrillator (AED). Certificates were awarded to those who passed the course.

“Sudden cardiac arrest can happen anytime, anywhere and to anyone – even the young. Expedient and appropriate use of the device is key, when responding to cardiac emergencies. It is with the support from Singapore Expo, the largest convention and exhibition venue in the country that allows Singapore Heart Foundation to empower more than 1000 school staff with up-to-date knowledge, skills and confidence to perform CPR and AED effectively and safely, ” said Mr Vernon Kang, Chief Executive Officer, Singapore Heart Foundation.”

Singapore Heart Foundation’s CPR+AED training programme teaches necessary life-saving skills to give participants the confidence to respond during cardiac emergencies. The course also equips them to determine when a patient is unresponsive, how to activate emergency medical services as well as perform CPR and use AED on adults.

Those who successfully complete the course will earn a certificate that will remain valid for two years after it is issued. Those interested in attending the course and getting certified may visit the Singapore Heart Foundation website to sign up for future events.
