Singapore EXPO Welcomes the 28th Southeast Asian Games

Singapore EXPO is preparing itself to play host to six different sports in the upcoming 28th Southeast Asian Games. As the second largest venue host after Singapore Sports Hub, Singapore EXPO will host boxing, sepak takraw, silat, taekwondo, wushu and judo across 20,000 sqm of space in Halls 1 and 2.

With the biennial multi-sport event last held in Singapore 22 years ago, presenting the event this year is significant as it coincides with the Republic’s 50th year of independence. Some 7,000 athletes from 11 countries are expected to participate, according to the 28th SEA Games organising committee.

“Hosting the SEA Games is momentous as Singapore is also celebrating its Golden Jubilee this year and we are honoured to play our part in supporting this sporting event,” said Aloysius Arlando, Chief Executive Officer of SingEx Venues, the management company of Singapore EXPO. “Over the past few months, we worked closely with the organising committee to ensure that the safety, security, logistical and other games-related operational aspects of the SEA Games at the Singapore Expo are well-addressed. We look forward to welcoming the dignitaries, athletes and of course, the spectators, locals and visitors alike, who will add vibrancy to the Games.”

Singapore EXPO boasts an extensive range of amenities to accommodate the large crowds that are expected to attend the SEA Games, including 16 food and beverage outlets. Providing multiple transport nodes across the city, it also has quick and easy access to the airport and a 2,500-lot car park.

Security measures in and around the venue are being stepped up and operations staff prepped to handle the large crowds expected during the competition days.
