Press release -

SMRT introduces four more Wheelchair Accessible Bus (WAB) Services from 29 September 2013

SMRT is ramping up its effort to offer greater convenience to wheelchair passengers. A total of 30 Wheelchair Accessible Buses (WAB) will be introduced to four more service routes: 178, 853, 904 and 947. This brings the total number of WAB services to 38.

Trainings have also been given to SMRT Bus Captains to provide assistance to wheelchair-bound when needed. Procedures are in place to ensure that the passenger is fastened with his seatbelt and his wheels secured before the bus re-commences its journey. Our Bus Captains will also help the passenger tap his/her EZ-Link card and stow the ramp to its original position before opening the front door to allow other passengers to board.

SMRT will continue to strive toward offering safe and reliable services to passengers daily.

Please refer to the attached poster, or http://www.smrt.com.sg/RiderGuide/Accessibility.aspx for more details on the new and existing WAB services.

Passengers may contact SMRT Customer Relations at 1800-336-8900 on weekdays (excluding public holidays) from 7.30am to 6.30pm or visit www.smrt.com.sg for more information.
