Sneakersnstuff x Social Status x adidas Consortium "Sneaker Exchange"
Today we are proud to introduce and host the second installment of the 2017 Sneaker Exchange. For our first collaboration of the year we link up with our good friends in North Carolina, Social Status. Sneakersnstuff began life in Stockholm and over the past 17 years we have gradually opened stores across northern Europe. Similarly, Social Status started with a single store in North Carolina before expanding around the eastern United States. The Geographical expansion may have served as an ice-breaker, but adidas Consortium challenged us to find further common ground to work together on a sneaker pack. After sharing and developing ideas, we present two models which reflect the changing role of sneakers in both a practical and a wider social sense.
Initially intended as performance footwear for athletes, sneakers have grown in cultural significance; becoming style and design icons in their own right. Conversation developed between ourselves and Social Status on how classic sporting equipment can become iconographic. How it can, over time, gradually be elevated and reimagined, get remade in expensive materials, in silver or gold, and encrusted with jewels or diamonds. That opulence serves as the inspiration behind the colorways here. The result is athletic footwear reimagined in monochrome luxury. The Ultra Boost is the first to get the makeover. adidas’ marquee runner-turned- casualwear sensation is executed in breathable grey/white melange Primeknit upper with leather overlays. It features a taped toe-tip and – as the luxurious highlight – a soft matte suede cage. We have applied the same BOOST™ and Primeknit attributes to the Superstar, giving the old-school basketball silhouette advantages of today’s technology. The result is a lighter, more flexible take on a late sixties hardwood classic.

Over the years well executed collaborations with Asics, Puma, New Balance, adidas, Reebok, Nike, Vans, Converse and more has passed through the doors. And there is always something in the works for future projects.
