Many exciting changes at Formex

Formex – the largest and most important platform for Nordic design – will introduce a new product and hall layout in August as well as special theme days to discuss hot industry topics.

"We are tightening our grip on Formex to adjust to an industry experiencing rapid change. This will also create new opportunities," says Lotta Ahlvar, Operative Event Manager for Formex.

It Matters is the overarching theme for Formex, which will be held at Stockholmsmässan on August 20-23. It Matters is about sustainability and how we interact with the world. It's about valuing products and objects in an innovative way as a prerequisite for our survival and future. New materials and processes go hand-in-hand with traditional craftsmanship and old-fashioned wisdom.

One of several exciting changes at Formex in August is the introduction of special theme days to discuss relevant industry topics. These discussions will feature influential experts and profiles in each area. The hub for the theme days will be a new inspiration and knowledge stage in Hall B.

Formex Theme Days:
Tuesday, August 20: Retail
Wednesday, August 21: Sustainability
Thursday, August 22: Colours & Trends
Friday, August 23: Branding

Another change will be the new layout for the product areas and halls:
Hall A: Dining, Scandinavian Living, Lifestyle Living
Hall B: Kids & Giving, Adding, Upcoming
Hall C: Garden & Living, Well-being

"The objective of the new layout is to make it easier to navigate based on product area, order placement and supplier, and to create a better flow in the halls. We are also fulfilling a request from Formex's visitors to better delineate our product areas," says Lotta Ahlvar.
"As a whole, I think the changes make the fair dynamic and more exciting."

One product area that Lotta Ahlvar believes will draw a lot of attention is Well-being, which is having an increasing impact on our homes.
"The home now also has space for personal training and an interest in well-being. The designer yoga mat that stands rolled-up in the living room and the colourful running shoes on the shoe rack in the hall become new accessories and lifestyle markers, just like the on-trend scented candle in the bathroom."

"Another clear trend is that we are spending a lot less time in front of the TV in the living room and an increasing amount of time in the kitchen and around the set table. Everything in this area is found in the Dining department."
