Stylish organization at Formex

At the Formex interior design and gifts exhibition on January 14-17, 2015, the trend for the spring is Nordic Neat. It is precise, neat, clean and attractive. Nordic design is characterized by natural simplicity and functionality and it uses honest materials and tones inspired by nature and the special Nordic light.

“During these restless times of war and epidemics around the world, we have a need to make our home a place where we feel secure. Everything has its place, without being boring or feeling impersonal. The bookshelf boasts our personality, our heritage and our interests. We organize and group small items on trays for our table decorations, and many small vases filled with flowers and decorative leaves add a nice touch,” explains Christina Olsson, Event Manager for Formex.

In this spring's trend theme, Nordic Neat, function and organization are the guiding concepts. When we pack for a trip or arrange to go on a picnic, everything is efficiently organized, and the aesthete in us would naturally like to combine this efficiency with style. Suitcases, bags, boxes, containers, receptacles - each item is chosen very carefully. After a picnic in the park, next to the water or with a view from a rooftop, we recycle almost everything in the compost. We take interest in new, smart materials.

Colors: All of the shades of blue in the sky, from the grayish blue of a morning mist to the clear blue summer sky and the dark blue sky at night. Pastels are still common, although the pink that has been dominant for several seasons is toned down a step and different tones of burnt orange are gaining ground. Metals glimmer as accents, preferably well-worn red and yellow metals such as brass, copper and bronze.

Materials: Wood, rattan, wool, linen, stone, terra-cotta and new composite materials, often in new combinations.

Shapes: Clean, neat, simple and unembellished. Function is as important as design.
