Top international names to visit Stockholm Design & Architecture Talks

Alice Rawsthorn, design critic and journalist, Joel Sanders, architect, and Tom Dixon, designer, will be three of the guest speakers at Stockholm Design & Architecture Talks, the Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair’s forum for knowledge and discussions within the area of design and architecture.

The program includes almost 100 speakers, and around 40 program points will be held on the stage next to Design Bar in Victoria Hall.

“SDAT is being arranged for the sixth consecutive year, and over time it has developed into the most important and comprehensive platform for discussing Scandinavian design and architecture. We continue to highlight the local perspective alongside the global perspective, and our speakers are both well-known and lesser-known – what is most important is the content. We want to raise the bar and inspire new thoughts and processes,” says Ulrika Kjellström Attar, Program Manager for SDAT.

Alice Rawsthorn, design critic and journalist, will take the approach of Design as an Attitude when speaking about the future of design and how it can contribute to solutions for societal challenges.

Joel Sanders, an architect from New York, is the name behind the Nationalmuseum’s new exhibition design. He will speak about Designing the Inclusive Museum.

Mat Cash, one of the senior staff members at Tomas Heatherwick Studios, will share his experiences from creating the multi-award-winning Zeitz MOCAA in Cape Town. His talk is entitled Reinventing Heritage.

Designers such as Tom Dixon, Matali Crasset, Sabine Marcelis, Noé Duchaufour Lawrance and David Trubridge will touch on their own design work in individual lectures, as will the Guest of Honour for 2019, Neri&Hu.

Mark Isitt, architecture expert, will present five program points in the form of panel discussions with an architecture focus that raise topics such as the city, suburbs and infrastructure of the future. His guests include architects Julien de Smedt, Helle Juul, Oana Bogdan, and Ola Broms, journalist Lars Åberg and recently appointed National Architect Helena Bjarnegård.

Stockholm Design & Architecture Talks will be held all five days of the fair and offer lectures targeting architects, interior architects, designers and buyers. The theme is Challenges for the Future. The fair opens its doors to the general public on February 9.

Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair will be held on February 5-9, 2019, at Stockholmsmässan.
