ZÜBLIN A/S wins the prestigious Danish-German Business Award 2017

  • Professional jury and online voting determined the outcome
  • Innovative technologies and international development
  • The award belongs to the employees

With this award, ZÜBLIN A/S has been added to the group of previous winners such as ARLA and BESTSELLER, all contributing to the innovative business collaboration between Denmark and Germany.

Professional jury and online voting determined the outcome

ZÜBLIN A/S received the award at a gala dinner celebrating the Danish-German Chamber of Commerce's 25th anniversary on 15 November taking place at Børsen, the former Copenhagen Stock Exchange in Copenhagen. The award ceremony included the Danish Minister of Industry, Business and Financial Affairs, Brian Mikkelsen, the Danish Ambassador to Germany, Friis Arne Petersen, and the German Ambassador to Denmark, Andreas Meitzner.

With votes from a professional jury and the vast majority of the online voters, there was no doubt that the award this year would go to ZÜBLIN A/S. The building contractor, which among other things is in charge of the construction of Axel Towers, BLOX, the extension of the Copenhagen metro to Nordhavn and the establishment of Nordhavnsvej, has within a short time frame become one of the biggest players on the Danish market. Especially in the past five years, ZÜBLIN A/S has grown considerably: from 68 full-time employees in 2012 to 306 full-time employees in 2016. The revenue has almost 7-doubled during the same period.

Innovative technologies and international development

The Chamber of Commerce's evaluation, which formed the basis of the decision, is: ZÜBLIN A/S is utilising new and innovative technologies which ensure that the company is very competitive and at the same time is able to solve some of the most visible and challenging construction and civil engineering projects. ZÜBLIN A/S is also bringing other German companies and subcontractors onto the Danish market, just as there are several German employees working on the company's Danish projects. ZÜBLIN A/S is in that way contributing to the promotion of Danish-German exchange.

The award belongs to the employees

Chairman of the ZÜBLIN A/S Board of Directors, Jens-Henrik Nicolaisen, who received the award on behalf of the company, emphasised in his acceptance speech both the Danish and the German employees' significance for the company's success in Denmark:

“It lies in our company's DNA to work across national borders and cultures. Every year, 72,000 group employees complete 12,000 projects. The international teamwork, which we are a part of, is strengthening mutual cultural understanding, builds bridges and creates bonds between people and organisations throughout Europe – and, especially for ZÜBLIN A/S, between Denmark and Germany. I would like to thank all the employees at ZÜBLIN A/S – winning this award is their merit.”

ZÜBLIN A/S won the award ahead of two other strong finalists, Aller Aqua and Danfoss Silicon Power, which are also contributing considerably to advancing Danish-German cooperation.

The Danish-German Chamber of Commerce chooses the finalists, and the winner is found through online voting and a professional jury.
