  • Ed. Züblin AG realised Berth 7 with contract value of approx. 4.5 million €
  • Important infrastructure project for Rostock-Warnemünde cruise ship port

With the opening of Berth 7 at the Warnemünde Cruise Center, the 2016 cruise ship season got underway in the City of Rostock today. The berth, an important dock for the tourist ship industry, was replaced over the past six-and-a-half months by a new structure for about 4.5 million €. Project realisation had been awarded to Ed. Züblin AG, Sub-Division Civil Engineering North, by the City of Rostock’s Department of Civil Engineering and Port Construction. ZÜBLIN handled all pile driving, steel hydraulic engineering and concreting works. Demolition works and surface paving for the new wharf facility, with an additional contract value of approx. 600,000 €, were carried out by the STRABAG units from Lausitz and Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Construction began in September 2015 and was completed on schedule in March 2016. “This important infrastructure project will increase the attractiveness of the cruise ship terminal in Rostock and will further promote maritime tourism in our city,” highlights Rostock mayor Roland Methling. The approx. 280 m long berth situated directly in front of the Warnemünde Cruise Center will be capable of handling nearly all types of vessels. With the port call in Warnemünde by AIDAdiva today, the City of Rostock started this year’s cruise ship season on schedule. Rostock expects 183 ports of call from 33 cruise vessels this season.
