ZÜBLIN to erect building complex in Copenhagen’s Carlsberg quarter

  • Turnkey construction of 80 m high-rise and adjoining building
  • Design and build with BIM.5D® under partnering model

Carlsberg Byen P/S has commissioned ZÜBLIN with the construction of two new buildings in Copenhagen’s Carlsberg quarter. ZÜBLIN A/S will complete an 80 m high-rise as well as an adjoining building with five aboveground floors in the Danish capital by the year 2021. The project foresees the construction of apartments, offices, shops, cafés, restaurants and an underground car park for 200 cars and 1,000 bicycles on a total space of about 40,000 m2. The building ensemble combines modern architecture with innovative technical equipment.

With partnering and BIM.5D® to project success

ZÜBLIN, Carlsberg Byen P/S, the architect teams and COWI have been working together under a partnering model since May 2017. The early coordination and transparency under binding conditions made it possible to accelerate the processes from the start and to recognise and realise optimisation potential with regard to cost, quality and scheduling. The potential afforded by digital design using BIM.5D® (Building Information Modelling) played an important role in the process.

Jens Nyhus, CEO of Carlsberg Byen, showed himself to be extremely satisfied with the cooperation in the project: “The preliminary cooperation in this project has been accompanied by great commitment and a shared intention to find the most optimum solutions. This is a general trend which we experience at Carlsberg Byen, since the early involvement in our cooperation model creates a strong connection with the project of all parties as well as a deep commitment to lead the project to the desired result.” Jens-Henrik Nicolaisen, Chairman of the Board of ZÜBLIN A/S, was pleased with the trust shown by Carlsberg Byen in ZÜBLIN’s abilities: “This important contract consolidates our position on the Danish market, where we can distinguish ourselves with several important projects. At ZÜBLIN, we believe in early cooperation paving the way for success. When we are part of large construction projects like Carlsberg Byen, we do this based on our partnering model teamconcept, which, like the cooperation model of Carlsberg Byen, is based on the early involvement of all parties. The partnering makes a decisive contribution to realising projects on time and at cost.”
