Google to share exclusive digital insights at The British Tourism & Travel Show 2018

Google’s industry head of travel, Ruairidh Roberts, has been confirmed to host a keynote session at the British Tourism & Travel Show, taking place at the NEC Birmingham on 21-22 March 2018.

As the travel industry moves towards an increasingly connected future[1], Google’s digital expertise is much sought after by businesses around the world. Roberts, the company’s industry head of travel, will take to the stage with an exclusive session discussing ‘Priorities for digital marketeers in tourism today’ – on the show’s opening day (21 March) at 1pm.

The talk will outline Google’s view on how the travel industry should sequence their priorities online. Visitors to the show will gain vital digital marketing insights, from attribution strategy and the importance of user experience, to audience tactics, and increasing importance of brand. As digitisation continues to progress in the industry, travel professionals will take away Google’s expert advice on key digital advertising solutions and the best specialist performance tools to use for their business.

With a background in various roles at the New York Times, Roberts joined Google in 2011, initially running relationships with the top UK retail banks and investment firms. Later joining the travel team, in 2013, leading Google’s relationships with tour operators and package holiday companies in the UK. Roberts has spoken at various travel industry events around the country and is a member of the World Travel Market Advisory Board.

The British Tourism & Travel show’s extensive free Keynote programme is renowned for attracting ‘inspirational’ big names discussing the key issues, opportunities and hot topics facing the domestic tourism sector today. Previous speakers have included: former MP Michael Portillo, TV presenter Julia Bradbury, Countryfile presenter Adam Henson, British Army veteran Simon Weston CBE, Travelzoo’s UK MD Joel Brandon-Bravo, TripAdvisor’s Leanne Thompson, and author and zookeeper Benjamin Mee. Plus panel discussions from TravelGBI, The Tourism Society, AGTO, and Hudson’s Heritage.

The full Keynote line-up for 2018 will be announced next year.

The British Tourism & Travel Show, firmly established as the domestic tourism showcase of the year for the UK and Ireland’s travel trade will feature over 250 leading visitor attractions, venues, destinations, hotels, transport providers, associations and DMOs – as well as a new Destination Europe area for 2018.
