England Legend Frank Lampard joins BT Sport

England and Chelsea hero Frank Lampard is joining BT Sport as a football pundit the broadcaster revealed today.

Frank, who is Chelsea’s all-time leading scorer with 211 goals, will join BT Sport’s team of expert football analysts for live Premier League, Emirates FA Cup, UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League matches from the start of the season.

Frank is uniquely well qualified to give his expert opinion, having won each of the competitions as a player, including three Premier League titles, four FA Cups, one UEFA Champions League and the UEFA Europa League in his 13 years with Chelsea.

Frank, who retired from playing with New York City FC in February this year, joins an impressive roster of pundits including his old England teammates and Champions League winners, including Steven Gerrard, Rio Ferdinand, Paul Scholes, Owen Hargreaves and Steve McManaman.

Simon Green, head of BT Sport, said: “It’s no secret that Frank had many offers, both within the game and elsewhere, following his retirement, so we are absolutely thrilled that he has chosen to join the team at BT Sport.

“Frank needs no introduction as a Chelsea and England legend and he has already shown in his first appearances as a broadcaster that he is going to be a shrewd and insightful expert. Frank’s incredible pedigree on the field means that he’ll regularly be commenting on a competition that he’s won as a player, which we believe gives him fantastic credibility.”

During his 20-year playing career, midfielder Frank has played at West Ham, Chelsea, Manchester City and New York City, scored a total of 300 goals in 1,010 professional matches. He scored his 211 goals for Chelsea in 649 games and also netted 29 times for his country in 106 appearances.

Frank will make his debut this weekend on BT Sport’s coverage of the FA Community Shield, when Premier League champions Chelsea face FA Cup winners Arsenal.
