Jobs joy for Warrington as BT expands call centre

Consumer and business units adding 290 new full-time posts

BT is set to take the total number of jobs at its busy Warrington contact centre to more than 1,000 with the addition of 290 customer advisers, the company announced today.

Recruitment is well underway with most of the posts having been filled, but over the coming weeks another 50 people will be taken on to work in the contact centre at Europa Boulevard.

The majority of the jobs are for consumer customer advisers working on the launch of BT Sport, while more than 40 are being employed as business sales advisors.

The business recruitment will double the number of people in the existing unit at Warrington, which is set to become BT’s main outbound contact centre for business sales in the UK.

Mike Blackburn, BT’s Regional Director for the North West, said: “A major recruitment is under way at Warrington, which is creating great job opportunities for local people. The fact we will soon employ more than 1,000 people at this centre is testament to the quality of the local workforce and a vital boost for the town’s economy.

“These are exciting times to work in BT. We are rolling out high-speed fibre broadband in the North West and across the UK and the arrival of BT Sport, which is available free to BT Broadband customers, is creating a huge amount of public interest.

“This is a super opportunity for people who want to work in a vibrant and exciting industry. If you have experience selling new technology and services, are highly self-motivated and have customer satisfaction as your top priority, then we want to hear from you.”

The new advisers are being recruited by employment agency Manpower, making Warrington one of BT’s biggest contact centre operations in the UK.

This latest employment boost for the North West comes hot on the heels of BT’s launch of its UK customer service hub for BT Sport at Accrington, with the creation of around 325 new jobs.

The new posts will mean that BT will employ more than 8,500 people across the North West, making it one of the biggest employers in the region.

BT’s Warrington call centre hosts several specialist departments, dealing with everything from helping customers when they move house to taking orders for fibre broadband. People interested in applying for these new jobs should contact Manpower on 0191 2275900 orBt.recruitment@manpower.co.uk
